A hoose is not a Home

A day in Goose as the English here pronounce it.

When the sun was out it was bakingly hot, when it was in it was freezing, so most of the day was spent taking fleeces off or putting them back on again.

The tourist office said the main attractions of the hoose were the marina basin – seen that at close quarters – and the very interesting museum.

So the museum it was. The entrance cost was a little confusing but after being reassured that it was €10 for both of us we handed over a €20 note to be told there was no change.. it was €10 each!

But never mind… it’s the main Hoose attraction!

Except it was all in Dutch and really contained nothing of interest. Three large Rembrandt style paintings and lots of drawings by school children, though there was some very fine embroidery

On the up side there were toilets and it was dry. Did I mention it rained intermittently too… and was windy!!

Should you visit on a cold Thursday I would suggest that you’d be better off taking your €20 to the coffeeshop, I don’t know why the tourist office didn’t advise that

So off to the supermarket. After asking a couple of people where it was I resorted to Google maps but we were pretty much there by then.

Lynn bought two bottles of still water from a great pallet of water bottles so you can imagine her delight on first gulp to discover they were vinegar 🤣 how much vinegar do they use over here? And what for?? It’s next to the bin in case anyone runs out during the night.

There’s a church with unusually large windows

And interesting things for lunch

Also we saw our First Closeup Windmill. Here it is!

So that was about it for Goes

Very nice – as everything round here is, but not exceptional

Tomorrow, despite warnings of strong wind in the wrong direction (do you think the weather gods need a sacrifice.. a goat perhaps ?) we’re off to Bruinisse and the Grevellingenmeer islands 🌴

Woo Hoo!!

  1. Hope lynn did not take too bigger swig of “water” 😧. All looks very peaceful. We sacrificed, sorry, devoured an Aldi chocolate Swiss roll, recommend. Perhaps that will do the trick. Weather here is great 🌞🌞😊😊.
