As we’d held on to the keys to the bikes we took them shopping this morning.
What a difference it makes not having to lug everything for miles. Bikes really are great.
So long as it’s flat of course!

Shopping stowed we set off for Veere.
Following wind. Fair tide to Zandkreeksluis, and then no tide at all.
All very relaxed! And we’re getting better at these huge locks.

In fact a bit too sunny if anything. I’ve got burnt knees and Lilly white thighs… no one wants that!

There are a lot of preferred channel lateral buoys here, though they don’t tell you which channel to prefer. It can get a bit confusing.

The entrance to Veere is tiny, in fact we sailed straight past and had to turn back. It’s about two boat widths and rather full up once you get in, but we were found a box berth and we got in without mishap.

There are loads of swallows here.. they have a very melodious and varied song and look much too small to make the journeys they do. Here’s one on the rail taken through the forward hatch.

Veere looks a nice place with market stalls set up everywhere, so we have great expectations for tomorrow morning.
However.. here’s the view from the companionway

See that tower?
Just below the turret, behind the trees are a complete orchestra of bells and on the hour they all compete to see which is the loudest. At least they sound like bells and they’re sort of in tune – not like the last place – but there’s no discernible melody. It just sounds like four or five musical boxes all playing at once!
Will it continue through the night?
Well, I’ll be asleep but I’ll give you Lynn’s report tomorrow.
