I don’t Believe it!

Sunday Night!

Fair weather promised for Monday so it’s off to catch two buses and repatriate the boat from Brighton!

Sunday night at 8pm turns out not to be the ideal time to travel by bus, but as a friend pointed out, buses have their own agenda – they’re not there for my convenience.

It was a long wait at the bus stop. I even tried hitch hiking but without any luck. I could always get a lift in the past, but that was in more generous or perhaps less fearful times.

Of course it started to rain heavily and I was soaked through when I finally made it – and then lay awake listening to the wind howling in the rigging as the boat was tossed from side to side.

Was the forecast wrong? Had it been a wasted journey?

Fortunately not!

Monday morning was bright and sunny with light winds.. ideal for a single handed sail home.

They say if the height of the cloud is larger than the distance from the horizon to the base of the cloud then you’re going to get wet, but I managed to outrun this one and remained dry all the way back to Eastbourne in a quite respectable time of three and a half hours.

Home at last…

The Eastbourne lock looks it’s best at high tide and I was pleased to see my new banner for the Sovereign Harbour Berth Holders Association had finally been put in place whilst I was away.

It’s back to work for a while before the next holiday and though it was quite a short trip to the Solent it was all very enjoyable and the weather was mostly very good.

But there does seem to be a lot of moaning in this latest blog!

Could I finally be turning into Victor Meldrew??

I will be 65 next month and it is of course quite normal that one becomes increasingly curmudgeonly at this age!

But no… I remain firmly convinced that it’s Them, not Me… and so after a change of engine oil and some general maintenance (to the boat not me) we’ll be cheerfully off somewhere again – just as soon as the weather allows!

Thanks for following.. more soon!
