On the advice of Christine, who apparently knows about these things, this morning the horses were treated to chopped up carrots and having us blow gently up their nostrils!! 🤡

As I had predicted this all went well whilst carrots were available, but they all got a bit frisky when supplies were exhausted, despite Lynn holding the bowl behind her back and hoping they had exceptionally short memories🤣
Lovely as they are, I’m always wary of the combination of large muscles and small brain wherever I come across it.
So on to another island – Stampersplaat – for lunch.
Very nice and with darker coloured horses, orange coloured deer and long woodland walks.

After lunch we headed west to the dyke that holds back the North Sea, Haven Middelplaat and the Brouwerssluis.
There’s a large tower from the top of which you can see the dyke, the North Sea and the grevelingen.
They’re not real flamingoes by the way. Plastic!

The North Sea beach is huge and sandy and you can just see what I presume is Norfolk on the horizon.

It all looks very nice. But… as we know, hidden dangers from the animal kingdom await!
In this case it’s Bastard Caterpillars 😱

Google Translation:
Beware! bastard satin caterpillars. Health problems can be caused by the hair of these caterpillars!!!!!
Pretty much like the ones in Portugal it seems. It’s not just the animals. The insects have it in for us too!
It was a good 6kn sail downwind to archipel island with us leaving a bigger boat in our wake, but when we got there it was completely full up, the very last space being taken as we arrive by the boat we had left behind. He clearly knew a shorter route 🤨
And so on to Veermansplaat. There’s only one place to stay there and it was getting late, but great news! Completely empty!!!

Except for a rash of jellyfish. Possibly the clinging sort! So no swimming here.

By the time we’d eaten it was too late to explore but there’s a sign on the pontoon saying keep 25 metres from horses and cattle. So perhaps not so friendly here.
The morning will reveal all 😎
It looks lovely but a long way to throw carrots and I guess even harder to blow😂😂😂. Look out for the bastards.
