Baked Bean Tins?

Well, we survived the night without any intrusions from….

but that was probably because we were rafted three out.

It’s a lot of boats to climb over at 1am after a heated game of scrabble (I lost… but then I didn’t get Z,Q,U,X,W 🤨) to visit what were essentially public toilets!

But though we escaped Hammy, there was no escaping the church bells that on the hour played a protracted ‘melody’ that sounded like the bells were made from bean cans. And badly tuned ones at that!

At least it was only once per hour. In Portugal the clocks chime the hour at five to and then again on the hour. So at midday you get 24 dongs!! But at least they don’t attempt a tune!

Most of today was spent at the market and supermarket buying slightly more food than we could carry.

I found this wine. Recommended to be served with a large bowl of pasta.. yum!

Then a quick bit of sightseeing.

Children were jumping off the bridge and though I didn’t see any jellyfish we managed to resist joining in.

Then the tourist office.. and there was a tower to climb, as there usually is!

Building of this one was abandoned half way up as they ran out of money and if they had finished it I might have run out of breath.

There were an awful lot of stairs but half way up was an art installation.

A large curtain hung at the end of a room and when you pressed the button all the lights went off. As your vision adjusted a huge bouquet of flowers slowly and ethereally appeared in front of you. Very effective.

Also we got to choose a flower each to drop from the top of the tower.

This explains the sign as we approached the tower

The views from the top were good. It’s pretty flat out here!

At this point Lynn realised that she had left her ever present (though actually not in this case) bottle of water in the tourist office.

Despite the heat… 33+ on the boat

We legged it back to the VVV office, only to find it had closed 3 minutes earlier.. but best of all when we looked through the window there was the bottle sitting on the counter 🤣🤣🤣

How we laughed… well, I did at least.

Everyone we spoke to said don’t bother going to Colijnplaat. Not just because it’s difficult to spell, they all said there’s nothing there, waste of time, etc. So when we saw a forest of masts on the horizon we thought we must be on the wrong place!

It’s a largish marina and when you arrive at the welcome pontoon someone speaks over the intercom and on a large screen your allocated berth is highlighted with flashing arrows. Very modern!

So that’s where we are now with the wind howling in all the rigging and with perhaps the best showers so far 👍😎!

We’ve seen the town over the dyke but more of that tomorrow. Or later tonight if Lynn gets her way!
